Convert Text to ASCII Art

Add character spacing to uppercase text for a simple ASCII-style banner

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Choose whether to add spaces between uppercase characters or only change letter case.

How to use
  • Large mode uppercases and spaces characters; small mode only uppercases text.
  • Use small mode to preserve line breaks and existing spacing.
  • Copy or download the generated art straight from the output panel.
Formatting tips
  • Use shorter phrases for compact headers.
  • Monospaced contexts (README, terminals) display the art best.
  • Use Clear to reset and experiment with another style.

Enter text and choose a display style. Large mode converts letters to uppercase and inserts spaces between characters, which can make a short heading stand out in a README or code comment. Small mode converts letters to uppercase without adding character spacing. This tool does not use a block-letter font or draw each letter from a grid of symbols.

For example, Large mode turns “Hi” into “H I”; Small mode turns it into “HI”. Existing punctuation remains in the output. Large mode joins characters on one line, so line breaks in the input become separators; use Small mode when you need to keep the original line layout.

Choose Convert to ASCII art, then copy the text or download it as ascii-art.txt. The conversion runs in the browser. For multi-line block lettering, use a FIGlet-style banner generator instead.
