Convert a WebP image to PNG

Choose a .webp file from your device or drop it into the upload area. The converter decodes the image in your browser and draws it to a canvas, then creates a PNG download. Your image is not sent to a server.

Choose how to handle transparency

The Keep transparency option is on by default. Leave it enabled to retain transparent pixels in the PNG. Turn it off to place the image over a solid color, then choose a background color. This is useful when an app or document needs a flat background instead of transparent areas.

PNG uses lossless storage, but converting cannot restore detail already discarded when a lossy WebP was created. PNG files can also be larger than the source WebP, especially for photographs.

Animated WebP files

This converter uses the browser's image decoder and exports one PNG. For an animated WebP, the exported image contains the first frame; animation is not retained.

Steps

  1. Select or drop a WebP image.
  2. Keep transparency, or disable it and select a background color.
  3. Choose Convert to PNG and wait for the preview.
  4. Choose Download PNG to save the converted image.

The tool accepts WebP images that the browser can decode. If a file does not load, check that it is a valid WebP and try another browser. Conversion happens on your device, so the image's dimensions and browser memory affect how quickly it completes.

Use WebP Converter when you need to convert in other supported directions or adjust output format options.
